Alison Oakleigh

Dr Alison Oakleigh is a lecturer in the Policy and Governance Program at the Crawford School of Public Policy, ANU where she teaches and convenes the course Social Policy, Society and Change. Alison also currently works as a strategic policy advisor for the ACT Government.

Alison has 15 years experience working in social and community service policy and delivery, with diverse policy experience in non-government organisations, Commonwealth and Territory Governments as well as a front line service provider in Australia and overseas – including the UK, Ireland and a year-long placement in Samoa as an Australian Youth Ambassador for Development developing an outreach early intervention program for young children with disabilities.

Alison's research interests include:

  • The relationships between non-profit organisations and governments.
  • Social policy implementation and service delivery.
  • The Street Level Bureaucrat.
  • Institutional theory.
  • Ethnographic and qualitative research methods.
